Is a prescription needed for enterade®?
No, you do not need a prescription for enterade®, but since enterade® is a medical food, it should be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider. If your patient is seeking reimbursement then a prescription will be required for their insurance.
How should patients take enterade®?
Typical use is two 8 ounce bottles per day. 30 minutes before a meal or 1 hour after.

Patients have used enterade® through a G tube with no reported complications. Consult healthcare provider about use of enterade® through a G tube.
