Unlike typical rehydration solutions, sports drinks, and water alone, enterade® is a medical food formulated with a proprietary blend of amino acids to help rebuild, protect, and hydrate the gastrointestinal tract after damage from cancer treatments.
How we’re different
The gastrointestinal tract houses cells that are responsible for maintaining our overall health. When those cells are compromised, we can suffer from symptoms that make us feel run down and sick to our stomachs.
While cancer treatments are highly effective in targeting bad cells, they also damage good cells within the gut, resulting in GI distress. These “good” cells make up a barrier that keeps toxins and bacteria from entering the bloodstream. When these cells are damaged, gaps form in the barrier and allow toxins to enter into the body, resulting in diarrhea, nausea, and fatigue.
We also have cells in our gut called villi. Villi are responsible for nutrient absorption. When they are healthy, they absorb nutrients from the foods we eat, and then our bodies can turn that food into energy. When the villi are damaged, we aren’t able to absorb the same amount of nutrients–leading to malnutrition, unwanted weight loss, and fatigue.
We’ve dedicated years of research to developing a formula that combats those negative effects.

Our history
Did you know: we can’t send astronauts to Mars because they don’t have the guts?
No, really.
As brave as they are, their actual GUTS can’t handle the space travel required to get from Earth to Mars. This is due to the amount of radiation they have to endure once they get into space.
Enterade originated from a formula developed for NASA to help mitigate the effects of deep space radiation on the GI tracts of astronauts. The gastroenterologists and oncologists working on the program had the epiphany of a lifetime: deep space radiation isn’t very different from the radiation experienced by cancer patients here on Earth.
Then the bigger epiphany: irradiated guts are no different than chemo or immunotherapy damaged guts. If enterade can help repair the GI tract in one, why wouldn’t it work for all?
It did.
Something that began as a moonshot (or a mars-shot) quickly became a reality as we saw the tremendous impact the product had on patients around the country.

I am currently receiving chemotherapy for uterine cancer stage 3. I have been using this food after reading about it and it worked like a charm…then I ran out! Big problem…and was hospitalized twice for symptom management …until Enterade was again available. Within 2 days, all vomiting and diarrhea STOPPED and I’m not dreading my next infusion on Monday.
