What is enterade® Advanced Oncology Formula?
enterade® Advanced Oncology Formula is an amino acid based, glucose free medical food that is naturally sweetened with stevia leaf extract. enterade® provides select amino acids and electrolytes (sodium and potassium)- the nutrients needed to rebuild and protect the GI tract and deliver total body hydration for patients undergoing treatment for cancer.
How enterade® Advanced Oncology Formula works
During the treatment for cancer, chemotherapy and/or radiation are used reduce the size of the tumor and to diminish the spread of cancerous cells within the body. Unfortunately, these same treatments may affect the body’s healthy cells, including the cells of the mouth, stomach, and GI tract. This may result in symptoms such as diarrhea, dehydration and limited absorption of nutrition, which can lead to increased fatigue and weakness. enterade’s formula uses select amino acids to rebuild the damage in healthy GI cells as a result of the treatments for cancer.
Amino Acids
Amino acids are organic compounds that combine to form proteins. Amino acids and proteins are the building blocks of life. Some amino acids are obtained from the foods you eat and drink and they help build and support the function of the cells. When receiving treatment for cancer, the GI tract’s ability to absorb essential nutrients and electrolytes is disrupted, resulting in poor digestive health. The select amino acids in enterade® Advanced Oncology Formula help to rebuild the villi (lining of the intestine) and protect the GI tract, supporting a healthy immune function. enterade® also delivers total body hydration, replenishing fluid loss – which means your entire body is hydrated.
Glucose-Free Formula
In patients undergoing cancer treatment, glucose (sugar) intake can worsen side effects such as diarrhea, dehydration. In a gut damaged by cancer treatments, the villi can become blunted, leaving the patient unable to absorb nutrients and electrolytes that are glucose-bound. That’s why enterade’s Advanced Oncology Formula contains no glucose.
